Clinical Visits
Observing colleagues in centres of excellence abroad is one of the most effective ways of ensuring that pioneering techniques and the newest technological developments are disseminated throughout the British Isles. Clinical visits enable motivated and like-minded clinicians to discuss their clinical findings in person and observe first-hand how the latest management approaches are put into practice.
BUF supports clinical visits by Consultant Urologists and by Higher Surgical Trainees, in their final year of training, from these islands, to units abroad. These clinical visits are usually of short duration to a unit which the applicant feels would help their clinical practice. The maximum grant is £1,750.
Please note that clinical visit funding is not available to those who wish to visit places that already have a BUF Preceptorship scheme running.
Grants for visits are awarded 4 times yearly. Closing dates for applications are:
- 7 January - for visits between 1 February and 30 April
- 1 April - for visits between 1 May and 31 July
- 1 July - for visits between 1 August and 31 October
- 1 October - for visits between 1 November and 31 January
